Parabadmintonists thank Legado for safe return to official competitions at VIDENA

The last National Championship of the year that takes place at Sports Center 2, located in the National Sports Village (VIDENA), marked the return of official competitions at home for more than ten parabadmintonists, after several months, as a result of the Covid pandemic -19. The wait was long, but it was worth it.

“Lighting was needed like the one there is now in Sports Center 2, the courts look in perfect condition, despite the fact that a year has passed since Lima 2019, with all this pandemic, we feel safe and we feel those nerves and tension again , typical of an official competition ”, he stated Pilar Jáuregui.

In that sense, the gold medalist at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games confirmed her participation in the International Parabádminton Open in Spain, possibly to be held in March 2021. This contest will award qualification points to para athletes who seek to secure a ticket to Tokyo 2020.

Pedro Pablo de Vinatea, who was consecrated national champion in the singles modality, thanked the Lima 2019 Special Legacy Project for maintaining and ensuring the good condition of the venues that were remodeled and built for the Pan American and Parapan American Games.

“We are growing a lot with the organization of these championships. The renovation of lights in the colosseum is perfect, taking into account that visibility in Badminton is important. Since Lima 2019, the venues are well cared for and we compete without problems ”, underlined Pedro Pablo de Vinatea.

Also, the para badminton player described as “good” his preparation prior to his participation in the next Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

On the other hand, Nilton Quispe expressed his excitement after beating the world champion Giuliana Póveda in the singles final. “I really enjoyed this contest and we are all happy here. It was a tough year, but here all the biosafety protocols are met to be able to compete ”, he concluded.
