No exploit for the BCB, and yet …

There won’t be a nice Christmas present for BC Boncourt. The Jura team of the Swiss Basketball League lost 88-81 on Wednesday night in a duel against Friborg Olympic. Faced with one of the top names in the championship, the BCB was not unworthy and seduced. The Ajoulots may regret some bad choices made at the end of the match which did not allow him to ignite the last moments of the game. In the standings, the BCB is 7th with two points behind Monthey.

Convincing start to the match

BC Boncourt got off to a good start. Showing great marksmanship, he quickly took the lead, leading by one point at the end of a very offensive 1st quarter (28-27). The Red Team even took up to six lengths at the start of the second quarter, led in particular by an inspired Devin Cooper and an authoritarian Milos Jankovic. If the BCB was generally attractive, he also took advantage of clumsy Freiburg at first and in lack of efficiency, like his foreign players Boris Mbala and Sean Barnette.

The awakening of Petar Aleksic

Friborg coach Petar Aleksic sounded the revolt of his training. Unhappy with the performance of his own, he took a time out, still in the second quarter. It took him well: his team made a partial 15-5 to return to the locker room with four lengths ahead (48-44) at half-time, in particular by tightening its defensive guard and finding very – too much – easily spaces in the rear guard adjoulote. Since we are talking about defense, one element proves the rise of the Fribourgeois: the BCB scored as many points in a quarter-time as during the 18’04 that followed.

The merit of always believing in it

BC Boncourt was able to look his opponent in the eye until the very end of the game. He returned to two points from the visitors at the start of the last quarter, even at one point after the transformation of two free throws from his pivot Milos Jankovic (15 points Wednesday). The Ajoulots, however, lacked sharpness in the last moments, making poor choices. The Fribourgeois, them, were able to rely on their individualities to retain their achievements, like a sumptuous block by Arnaud Cotture.

The BCB therefore ended the year with a defeat against Friborg Olympic. Still, the performance of Vladimir Ruzicic’s charges is hopeful. The Red Team lost 26 points a month and a half ago against these same Friborg people… there was only a seven point gap this Wednesday at the Chaudron. Boncourt will return to the prosecution on January 3 with a trip to Basel to challenge the Starwings, who are two points behind the Jurassians in the hierarchy. / mle
