NFL: a lot of pressure for Tagovailoa against the Bills

MIAMI – The Dolphins need to play well on Sunday to advance on the board, and that’s even truer for Tua Tagovailoa.

If he doesn’t deliver the goods, he could be on the sidelines again late in the game.

Miami would reach the playoffs by winning at Buffalo, although other scenarios can lead to the same point.

Coach Brian Flores replaced the rookie in the last quarter on two occasions, including last week in Las Vegas.

Ryan Fitzpatrick then saved the furniture by orchestrating two lifts.

“I have very high expectations of myself. It is clear that I did not answer it against the Raiders ”, mentioned Tagovailoa.

FitzMagic kept the Dolphins (10-5) in control – in addition to reigniting the debate over which quarterback should be the starter.

Flores picked Tagovailoa as the number 1 heading into Game 7, even though the Dolphins had just scored two wins and Fitzpatrick was playing well.

Flores also showed that he can change his mind late in the game, at the risk of shaking the confidence of the 22-year-old.

“I’m really at peace with the decisions made by me and the team,” said Flores. It comes from a sincere and genuine desire to win. “

Tagovailoa is 6-2 as a starter. He offers the club the best chance of winning in Buffalo, Flores believes.

With 22 points against the Bills, the Dolphins would sign a first season of 400 or more points since 1986. The two-quarter system has worked well.

“Fitz and Tua are handling this admirably,” said tight end Mike Gesicki. They support each other. They are aware of their respective roles. “

Tagovailoa avoided mistakes, leaving the field open for defense to make big plays. Fitzpatrick was more of a rallying agent.

Tagovailoa has made just two interceptions, in 232 assists.

“This is always good news for a quarterback,” summed up Flores.

The longest pass completed by Tago was 35 yards, however.

“The long connections is one aspect of the game where I have to do better,” admitted the athlete from Ewa Beach, Hawaii.

Chan Gailey, who coordinates the attack, says quarterback is not

to blame for a system focused on short passes.

“Our bread and butter is the kind of 10 or 12 game climbs, the ground game, the running feints, the dial control,” he says.

For the past two weeks, Tagovailoa has been limited to 145 and 94 aerial yards. However, he also had harvests of 316, 296 and 248 yards per game.
