NCAA: Three quarterbacks and one receiver vying for the Heisman (football)

Unsurprisingly, quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence (Clemson), Mac Jones (Alabama) and Kyle Trask (Florida) as well as wide receiver DeVonta Smith (Alabama) are the four contenders for the Heisman Trophy, awarded to the best player. college football, in the NCAA.

Lawrence, considered by many to be the next top pick in the 2021 draft, completed 69% of his passes, racked up 2,753 yards and threw 22 touchdowns against just four interceptions this season. He had to be absent because of a positive test for COVID-19 in the middle of the campaign.

Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith smashed the prestigious SEC’s defenses in 2020. Jones managed to complete 76.5% of his passes in addition to amassing 3,739 passing yards. He threw 32 touchdown passes and suffered just four interceptions.

His teammate Smith was clearly his favorite target as he caught 98 passes and got 1,511 yards through the air. He has scored 17 majors this season.

For his part, Trask was smoking with the University of Florida Gators with nearly 70% of passes completed, 4,125 yards, 43 touchdowns and just five interceptions.

The identity of the winner will be revealed next Thursday.
