Moroccan journalist attacks CAF after the transfer of the African Super Cup to Qatar

Journalist Amin Al-Amiri attacked the African Football Association “CAF” after the African Super match between Al-Ahly and Nahdet Berkane was transferred to Qatar instead of Cairo.

Yesterday, Thursday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the transfer of the African Super Match from Cairo to Qatar, to be held in the first quarter of 2021.

“The decision to transfer the African Super match indicates confusion and improvisation by CAF,” Amin Al-Amiri said in exclusive statements to “Echo of the Country”.

He continued: “An institution of this level cannot be characterized by improvisational decisions, especially since there was a prior agreement with Qatar to hold the African Super Cup in Doha for a period of 3 seasons, and that flights became available and the health protocol proved successful in African competitions at the national team level.

He continued: “In general, I think that the position of Nahdet Borkan was legitimate.”

CAF had signed an agreement with the Qatar Football Association, this year, to establish the three editions 2020, 2021 and 2022 in Qatar, before CAF decided to hold the current year’s edition in Cairo, after Al-Ahly and Zamalek, the two giants of Egyptian football, rose to the African Champions League final.

The club, Nahdet Berkane, champion of the African Confederation, expressed its reservation not to hold the Super Cup in Qatar in accordance with the signed agreement.

Al-Ahly will play the African Super match as the champion of the last edition of the African Champions League competition, while Nahdet Borkan plays the match as the Confederation champion.

Al-Ahly won the CAF Champions League title, after defeating Zamalek with two goals against the goal of Friday before last, in the final match that brought together the two teams, at Cairo International Stadium, where Amr Al-Soliya and Mohamed Magdy Qafsha scored Al-Ahly’s goals, while Mahmoud Abdel-Razek Shikabala scored Zamalek’s only goal.

Al-Ahly team strengthened its record in the number of times winning the African Champions League title, raising its tally to nine titles, while Zamalek’s balance in the tournament froze at five titles, as it eluded him again, knowing that he won his last five titles in the tournament in 2002.
