Millwall fans ‘shameful’ act, booing, investigation, BLM protest, knee go, Wayne Rooney, reaction

The football association has announced that it will start an investigation after players booed at two English football league games over the weekend.

A number of fans at the game in the second division championship between Millwall and Derby and the home game of Colchester League Two against Grimsby booed the anti-racism gesture of the players before kick-off.

“The FA can confirm that there will be investigations into crowd-related incidents at both The Den and JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday 5 December 2020,” said a statement from the English Football Association.

“All relevant parties have been asked to provide observations and will have until Thursday, December 10, 2020 to provide their respective responses.”

Booing Millwall fans led provisional Derby boss Wayne Rooney to condemn their “shameful and thoughtless behavior”.

And Colchester owner Robbie Cowling, whose team plays in the fourth division, has told fans who want to exploit players who want to take a knee that they are not welcome at the club.

“Those who take the knee and support the taking of the knee are not only showing their willingness to support the quest to eradicate racial oppression, but forcing it to become a topic of conversation even when it is uncomfortable,” he said.

The professional footballers association described the booing as “a sad charge against a lack of understanding and empathy for the players’ fight against racism and discrimination”.

It urged Millwall “to act quickly to identify the part of the crowd that booed the players”.

Watford captain Troy Deeney told Talksport Radio that the Hornets would ignore any excavation of a knee in Millwall when they visit the cave on December 29th.

When asked what Watford would do if Millwall fans exploited a knee, Deeney said, “When they hollow out? I will still be there.

“But by the time we get to this series of racist things that are said to me or my players, we have already had a conversation about what is going to happen. We go. Easy. We are not here to be racially abused. We’re here to play football and to entertain. “

England and Arsenal star Lianne Sanderson told BBC 5 Live that the Millwall boo “got sick” while British politician Angela Rayner slammed the “disgusting scenes”.
