LOV names ten members of the 2021 team in non-Olympic summer sports – Other sports

For the first time, 12 seats for non-Olympic sports have been reserved for LOV.

Ten of the 12 athletes are currently known. These are: Mārtiņš Sesks (motorsport – car rally), Nikolass Bertāns (motorsport – drift), Justs Grencis (motorsport – autocross), Pauls Jonass (motorsport – MXGP class), Andžejs Lebedjevs (motorsport – speedway), Kārlis Alberts Reišulis 125 cubic centimeter class), Sandra Grosberga, Rūdolfs Zērnis, Uldis Upītis (all – orienteering) and Ieva Millere (water motorsports – speedboats).

The non-Olympic sports federations had to nominate their representatives for LOV support by 28 December. So far, this has not been done by representatives of professional boxing, who have been allocated two quotas for athletes.

89 athletes from 18 Olympic sports were included in the core LOV.

Following the proposal of the working group set up by the Latvian Olympic Committee (LOC), the LOV A team was supplemented by athletes who have met the Tokyo Olympic Games qualification standards, and the B team – by those who are still ahead of the qualification competition.

The following athletes are included in LOV A for summer sports: Edgars Krūmiņš, Nauris Miezis, Kārlis Pauls Lasmanis, Agnis Čavars (all – 3×3 basketball), Anastasija Grigorjeva (fight), Kristaps Neretnieks (equestrian sport), Kalvis Kalniņš (karate) , Tīna Laura Graudiņa, Anastasija Kravčenoka, Mārtiņš Pļaviņš, Edgars Točs (all – beach volleyball), Toms Skujiņš, Krists Neilands (both – highway cycling), Ritvars Suharevs (weightlifting), Inese Tarvida (taekwondo), Laura Ika Laura Igaune (all – athletics).

B consists of: Artūrs Strēlnieks, Roberts Pāže, Armands Ginters, Mārtiņš Šteinbergs, Armands Seņkāns (all – 3×3 basketball), Ramina Mamedova (fight), Jevgenijs Borodavko, Aleksejs Zarudņevs (both – judo), Kristine Vine (modern pentathlon), Aleksandrs Samoilovs, Jānis Šmēdiņš, Anete Namiķe, Varvara Brailko (all – beach volleyball), Emīls Liepiņš (highway cycling), Aleksejs Rumjancevs, Roberts Akmens (kayaking).

B will also include Artūrs Plēsnieks, Vadims Koževņikovs (weightlifting), Agate Rašmane, Lauris Strautmanis, Ernests Erbs, Emīls Vasermanis (shooting), Jolanta Tarvida (taekwondo), Anastasia Sevastova, Jelena Ostapenko (both – tennis), Sindri Bukša , Rūta Kate Lasmane, Oļegs Kozjakovs, Kristīne Blaževica, Gunta Vaičule, Anete Kociņa, Līga Velvere, Madara Palameika, Rolands Štrobinders, Gatis Čakšs, Arnis Rumbenieks, Ruslans Smolonskis (all – athletics), Elīna Vihrova B is also reserved for one swimmer in the men’s competition, whose name has not yet been named.

Meanwhile, the youth will consist of Nikolina Boke, Matvey Prokudinov, Amanda Miller, Beatrice Rozentale, Nikita Gorbunov (all – boxing), Kaspars Bondarenko, Arturs Seshken, Ivars Samushonoks (all – fighting), Una Dolgilevich, Galy Artyomov ), Aldis Vilde, Nauris Tomsons, Otto Gerbers (all – kayaking), Roberts Lagzdiņš (canoe), Artjoms Jermolajevs (karate), Ieva Maļuka (swimming), Rūdolfs Stankēvičs, Artūrs Rinkēvičs, Kristiāns Fokerītis ), Vanessa Buldinska, Kristens Kriegers, Edvards Emīls Liberts (all – BMX cycling), Armands Mežinskis (weightlifting), Kārlis Ozoliņš (tennis), Patriks Gailums, Maksims Sinčukovs (both – athletics), Jelizaveta Polstjanaja (art gymnastics), (gymnastics).

In 2021, LOV athletes will be provided with support in the field of sports medicine, sports science and education. In turn, financial support will be provided by the LOK and sports federations.
