He was an athlete who transcended as a basketball player and coach in one of the reference franchises: Boston Celtics. What’s more, along with Bill Russell, Sam Jones and Larry Bird, he made a decisive contribution to the Massachusetts team marking several eras.
As the new season takes its first steps, the NBA received news that mourns it. At the age of 88, KC Jones died, a figure who transcended as a basketball player and coach in one of the reference franchises: Boston Celtics. What’s more, along with Bill Russell, Sam Jones and Larry Bird, he made a decisive contribution to the Massachusetts team marking several eras.
In the sum of his career as a player, coach and assistant, Jones has conquered 12 rings. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1989. Fate would have it 25 on the day of his death, the same number on the jersey that Boston retired in 1967. He is part of the select group of seven players (including Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan) who won the Triple Crown: college, Olympic and NBA champion.

He was a seasoned base, strong in the brand
Without the magic touches of other players, Jones was always recognized as a solid point guard with great defensive ability. On the bench, he proved himself a strategist, leading the Celtics to two titles in the 1980s, with Bird as a star on the floor.
In the official statement reporting his death, the Boston Celtics described KC Jones this way: “KC showed that you could be both a fierce competitor and a gentleman in every sense of the word.
