“I’m not panicking at all now” – sport in the region

The old year is not over yet, training has started again for the third division soccer team from the region. It would also be fatal to leave the footballers in the Christmas break until after New Year’s Eve, with this full calendar, which is already peppered with catch-up games. It starts again on January 9th, at least for 1860 Munich and FC Bayern II, who then meet for the derby. Unterhaching and Türkgücü still have a little more time, which should not be bad, especially for Türkgücü, which is stuck in severe turbulence. An outlook.

In this situation it is important to avoid any trace of panic. So Alexander Schmidt says: “I’m not panicking at all now, and neither are the players. I try to focus on the sporting side.” It is of course not easy for the coach of Türkgücü Munich. Since it became known that the investor and president Hasan Kivran wanted to get rid of his shares in the association as soon as possible, the coverage of the running costs from January 1st has been uncertain – and there is even talk of redundancies for operational reasons.

Regarding negotiations with potential successors, the association is still keeping a low profile on request. As of now, Schmidt can at least say: “So far there has been no sign that anyone is not available to me, and I haven’t heard from anyone that they want to leave.” They still have some time to collect themselves. Because of the catch-up game on December 23, which Türkgücü won 4-1 in Meppen, the lactate test on January 2 will not be counted until the first training session will take place one day later.

A “tough” program awaits those who will still be there (Schmidt): After a test match against SSV Ulm, Türkgücü has to play six competitive games within 19 days in January. Schmidt tries to get positive out of the whole thing here too: “Our training conditions in winter are of course not particularly good,” says the 52-year-old about the club’s home at the district sports facility on Heinrich-Wieland-Straße. At least you don’t have that much time to train.

Meanwhile, the club has started to sell ghost tickets for the home game against Dynamo Dresden on Monday in a week in order to get urgently needed money. You can buy a “supporter ticket” for five, 15 or 50 euros on the club’s website, with the “VIP” version you get a “thank you card signed by the team”. The question remains, who of the current 35 players will then sign everything.

FC Bayern’s U23s got back into team training on Wednesday morning, and one thing was particularly noticeable: the squad is completely unchanged. It is an open secret that the champions from the previous season are planning additional personnel. And even if the transfer window does not open until the beginning of the new year, it has been reported that talks have already been held in recent weeks.

Most people are looking for a striker in the penalty area, especially since the team had scored eight more goals than now (28 instead of 20) after 15 games last season. But especially in the attack there are opportunities for those who are already there to prove themselves. The young attacker Lenn Jastremski, 19, has seen a positive development on campus. He can hope for unexpected deployment times if the Bavarians fail to find anything in the coming days – and the prestigious “Grünwalder Derby” is on January 9th “scheduled around 1860 Munich.

Conversely, coach Holger Seitz is now happy that a veteran will return to team training very soon: Maximilian Welzmüller, one of the few over 23 players in the team, will soon be available again after his knee ligament tear to stabilize the defensive midfield – even if the derby, one day before his 31st birthday, may come too early for him.

SpVgg Unterhaching (12th place)

The most spectacular news from the Unterhachinger Sportpark in the past few days was undoubtedly the announcement of the monstrous schnitzel platter from the kitchen of the club’s own inn. To collect, of course. The plate looks like you have to violate all Corona requirements in order to plaster it, because even two households cannot do that at once. The players apparently did not strike, allegedly everyone returned to training on Monday without any weight gain. Which is currently often held in the stadium, thanks to the underfloor heating.

The total of seven points from the English week before Christmas obviously contributed to the fact that a long time had actually begun in the suburbs. There is also nothing to be heard that players should come or go, they are happy that the potential was recently used and the long winless lull ended because several players are showing increasing form. In principle, the team is not doing so badly, considering that because of the long-term injuries Marc Endres, Dominik Stahl and Stephan Hain, there is no top performer in every part of the team, and this has been since the start of the season. However, Arie van Lent’s team will start on January 9 with a difficult away game against aspirant Hansa Rostock, and in January both catch-up games against Verl and Türkgücü are due.

Michael Köllner had said before Christmas that he hoped that “the full band” would be available again after the break. After a few units in small groups, everyone came together again on Tuesday at TSV 1860 Munich, and the conductor was definitely happy, because the timpani Sascha Mölders and the lively flautist Richard Neudecker had recovered well. Only the filigree violin player Stefan Lex was still missing, he has been carrying muscular problems with him for a long time. On the other hand, Köllner was able to welcome a new member.

In Merveille Biankadi, those responsible had conjured up exactly the player on the table of gifts, almost with the gifts on Christmas Eve, who were still needed for reinforcement. Biankadi is a massive striker from 1. FC Heidenheim who has a lot of third division and even a little second division experience. He is also from Munich, who may have his first appearance for the Löwen against his training club: the U23 of FC Bayern. However, whether Lex can play again on January 9th is still open.
