The Spanish Badminton Federation (FESBA) announced this Tuesday that Huelva will host the 2021 World Championships.

“FESBA, as the entity that owns the rights to organize the aforementioned event, has estimated the proposal made by the Huelva capital by virtue of the joint institutional declaration of all the political groups that make up the Huelva City Council”, reports the federation.

“The aforementioned formal commitment of the municipal corporation, in conjunction with the support of the Huelva society shown on the occasion of the Huelva 2018 European Championships, have been decisive in order to provide sufficient guarantees to host an event of this magnitude”, adds the organism.

David Cabello, president of FESBA, remarks in a press release that “the experience acquired in the 2018 Europeans in a first-rate public collaboration in search of sports, tourism and social projection with the Huelva City Council and the Andalusian Government as lines of action, will allow these World Cups to be a milestone in establishing a before and after in the conception of the Badminton World Cups “.

“From now on FESBA opens a work in coordination with the Andalusian Badminton Federation with the initial objective of constituting the Organizing Committee of the Event to be able to face the challenges set in a period of two years”, he says.

For the Spanish federation, the goal is now focused on ensuring that the World Cups, whose global economic impact is estimated at 200 million euros, constitute “a sporting event of the first world order, promoting a transfer for sport, badminton and Spanish society , Andalusian and Huelva “.
