Grigoryeva: Every day I think about going out of sports – Sports

Latvian freestyle wrestler Anastasija Grigorjeva thinks about leaving the gym every day, the best Latvian wrestler says in a conversation on Monday on the Daugavpils news portal “gorod.lv”.

It has already been reported that in mid-December, Grigoryeva won the second place in the individual World Cup in Belgrade, in the weight category up to 62 kilograms in the final with 0:14 conceding last year’s world champion Aisulu Tinibekova from Kyrgyzstan. For this, Daugavpils municipality will pay her a cash prize of 5,691 euros.

About the moments when a 30-year-old athlete has a desire to quit sports, she says: “Every day in every workout I think about it and every day I fight with myself. After every bad workout, I tell the trainer that it’s all that I’m here anymore. However, every time I find strength in myself, I realize that this is just one failed workout and there will be a lot of good ahead, and I still have unfinished things in this sport. “

She reveals that she will seriously consider thinking about leaving the sport only when she realizes that she is no longer “pulled” in such high-ranking matches, or when she receives it, after coming to this sport.

After leaving the big sport, the outstanding wrestler “would like to develop sports in the city, help our athletes achieve results, so that our city’s talents do not disappear by the age of 15, when young people realize that they have no opportunity to develop in the city.”

That is why Grigoryeva combines her professional activity with studies through continuous learning. At Daugavpils University, she has completed a bachelor’s and master’s study program at the Faculty of Law. In September 2021, she plans to go to Germany to study in the Olympic management program.

Grigorjeva admits that half of her success is the coach’s merit, as well as the fact that she could not work as a coach herself, because it is a very energy-consuming and emotionally difficult job.

She also says that nothing has changed in her life due to the Covid-19 pandemic, because as an athlete, she still has a training-home-training mode, going to the store only when it was necessary. The only big change in the sport is the postponement of the Olympic Games.

The World Cup individual competition was originally scheduled to take place in Belgrade.

The qualifiers for the Olympic Games will take place in the spring. European wrestlers will compete for two tickets in each category in March next year in Budapest, and in April two more tickets will be shared in the World Qualification in Sofia.

Only Anastasia Grigorjeva from the Latvian wrestlers took part in the 2016 Olympic Games.
