Great hopes for the Soria flyers in the National Senior Badminton

The most important event of the season for the senior players of the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club, from the capital and the Burgese Agrupación Deportiva 89, the Spanish Championship, will be held on the 5th, 6th and 7th in the Murcian town of Las Torres of Cotillas. This test was scheduled for last May, but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The level of the Sorians as a whole is very high as reflected by their positions in the national ranking and in the results achieved throughout the season, so any of the ten players who come to Murcia have the option of returning with a medal.

On the part of the club from the capital, six players will move: Manuel Acero, David Hernansanz, Santiago Martínez, Víctor Ortega, José Carlos Pérez and Álvaro Sanz. While it will be the people of Burgos: Sergio Latorre, Esther Pereira, Cristina Puebla and José Romero who will represent AD89. Most of them will compete in two categories, mainly the individual one and the various doubles modalities.

Several of them start as seeded men. In particular they will be José Romero and Santiago Martínez in their respective categories of male individual and Cristina Puebla in female double from Burgos.

Despite the difficulties in preparing for the test, common to all participants, the Sorians hope to return with an important booty of medals.

The competition will be held with strict security measures with access only for players and coaches who play matches at that time. The organization has set up adjoining warm-up facilities to disperse players while preventing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic as much as possible.
