Things perked up when the whistle went off at halftime between BYU # 13 and Coastal Carolina # 18.
BYU quarterback Zach Wilson threw a Hail Mary attempt in the final seconds of the first half just to pick him up from a chanticleer. As the player starts running it back cheap hits were thrown by the coastal defenses while Wilson was blocked during live play.
After bringing Wilson to the ground for the first time, two Coastal Carolina defenders held and defended the quarterback a second time, and both teams’ benches were cleared in response.
No flags were thrown.
The BYU-Coastal Carolina matchup wasn’t originally scheduled for this week. The Chanticleers were originally scheduled to play Liberty on Saturday. However, it was canceled due to COVID-19 issues in the Flames program. Within hours and three days before the game, the Cougars and Chanticleers agreed to the game.
BYU led Coastal Carolina 17-13 halfway in the matchup between undefeated programs.
