Brose Bamberg receives Medi Bayreuth for the Upper Franconia Derby

The two Bundesliga basketball teams Medi Bayreuth and Brose Bamberg will meet at the end of the year in the Upper Franconian Derby. At 8.30 p.m. Bamberg, eighth in the table, welcomes the Wagnerstadters, who are currently in 13th place, in the Brose Arena. The most recent 99: 110 against the former league bottom light from Gießen was Medi Bayreuth’s fourth defeat in a row. Bamberg recently lost out at FC Bayern with 70:84.

Bayreuth separates from Ryan Woolridge

One day before the Oberfrankenderby, Bayreuth parted ways with player Ryan Woolridge, according to a statement from the club. The 24-year-old is no longer part of the Bayreuth squad with immediate effect. The contract with the US point guard had been “dissolved by mutual agreement”.

“We tried everything to integrate Ryan into the team. Unfortunately, we didn’t succeed, which is why this step is the logical consequence and at the same time the best solution for everyone involved,” says Head Coach Raoul Korner, explaining the step. In seven Bundesliga games, the point guard achieved an average of 7.7 points, 3.1 assists and rebounds each, and an effectiveness value of 8.3 in just 19 minutes.
