Balotelli: from earning € 110,000 a week to € 220,000 a year

Mario Balotelli faces from today a new opportunity. In series B, hand in hand with Monza, with which he plans to debut today, with five kilos less and many zeros less in his checking account. Has passed from earning 110,000 euros a week at Liverpool to receiving 220,000 a year at Monza, as he recalls The Corriere della Sera. After being fired from Brescia for indiscipline, arriving late for training and going his own way, Balotelli returns after nine months without playing, willing to show that there is still that striker who broke the bench at Inter, with an unusual agreement for a youth, when he started. Everything, after Berlusconi took him out of unemployment.

In his early days, at Inter Milan, he won the biggest contract allowed for a youth at Inter Milan. After passing through the first team, Balotelli was signed by Manchester City where he began his time at some of the best clubs in Italy, England and France. After passing through Milan, Liverpool, Nice, Olympique de Marseille and Brescia, it was in this last club where it has suffered its decline. After starring in several acts of indiscipline and coinciding with the COVID-19 crisis, Mario was fired in June. After going through the trenches of the fourth division of Italian football and training with Franciacorta in Serie D To stay in shape while seeking destiny, Balotelli looks for his second chance at Monza.

At the club chaired by Berlusconi’s son Paolo, Balotelli has found lost trust in Brescia. Whoever was signed in August 2014 by Liverpool for almost 18 million euros to replace Luis Suárez and earn 110,000 euros a week, has found in the Monza the opportunity to be reborn at any cost. So much so that the forward will settle for earning 220,000 euros a year, which corresponds to what he earned in two weeks of work at Liverpool.

The set-up has not been easy. Nor accept that the Monza tied him short. It forces you to live no further than 30 kilometers from the training center. But he has found in Antonio Galliani his great mentor. Monza’s managing director previously worked with the Italian forward during his time at Milan and knows him well. It has been Galliani himself, who has imposed a severe diet and a specific physical plan that Balotelli has scrupulously complied with. The result, that the Italian striker has lost five kilos in 20 days after giving an account of his evolution day by day with a photo on the scale that he has been sending to Galliani. “Mario has joined us with the best of intentions, and now everything is completely up to him,” Galliani said.
