Badminton player Cheryl Seinen back in action from March | 1Limburg

Cheryl Seinen from Roermond and her double partner Selena Piek will resume the qualification process for the Olympic Games in March.

Then the world top will be at the start of the tournaments in Basel and Mülheim in Germany. Seinen and Piek still have to work hard in the women’s doubles to secure participation in the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year.

Competition
National coach Ruud Bosch about the chances of the two badminton players: “In the women’s doubles, the competition is close to it. We see the Taiwanese, who are close behind them, in particular coming up strongly. That can be exciting.”

Travel restrictions
The question remains whether all badminton players will have the opportunity to participate in the qualifying tournaments. Travel restrictions due to rising corona numbers, among other things, could prevent this. “We believe that everyone should be able to participate in order for a tournament to count towards qualification”, Bosch expresses the position of his union.

EK
Qualifying ends in mid-May, after six tournaments and the European and Asian Championships. In Rio 2016, the Netherlands was active in badminton with two couples. Selena Piek and Eefje Muskens then reached the quarter finals.
