Australia have named a strong 12-man squad to take on the Indians in this week’s final tour match ahead of the Border Gavaskar series. Question marks hang about who opened the eyelash in the first test.
With David Warner banned from the first test due to a groin strain and Will Pucovski in doubt after suffering a concussion against the Indians on Tuesday, Australia has few top-tier options.
Australia A roster: Sean Abbott, Joe Burns, Alex Carey (c, wk), Harry Conway, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Moises Henriques, Nic Maddinson, Ben McDermott, Mark Steketee, Will Sutherland and Mitchell Swepson

The string of injuries apparently has Joe Burns locked up for a start at the Adelaide Oval, but the Queenslander will be desperate to find form against the pink ball at the SCG, if not for his own sake to dispel speculation about his place in the XI to end.
Ben McDermott has replaced Pucovski on the Australian A-squad but it would be a surprise if Marcus Harris didn’t open his eyelash and gave him the chance to force his way into the first Test XI.
“Joe Burns, Cameron Green, Sean Abbott and Mitchell Swepson will greatly benefit from playing the high quality pink ball in the final Tour match,” said selection chairman Trevor Hohns.
“Everyone was well prepared for the test series, and the NSP (National Selection Panel) believes a final hit against India’s bowlers under lights will top it off nicely.
“You will join the rest of the Australian test team in Adelaide at the end of the Tour Match to develop an exciting test suite for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.”
