Arsenal Officially Lends Sead Kolasinac to Schalke 04

Gelsenkirchen

Sead Kolasinac is loaned by Arsenal to Schalke 04. The defender from Bosnia-Herzegovina has become a surplus for the Gunners squad this season.

Unlike last season, where Kolasinac still played 32 times, this season he has been largely overlooked by manager Mikel Arteta. He has only played 9 times, and specifically in the Premier League, he was only given the opportunity to appear once.

Given this limited playing time, Kolasinac accepted a loan offer from Schalke, who was his former club. Incidentally, the Royal Blues are in need of help getting out of the relegation zone, where they are currently at the heart of the Bundesliga standings.

“Sead needs to play regularly, so we decided that coming back to Germany and playing for Schalke would be an advantage for him at the moment,” Arsenal’s technical director Edu said on the club’s official website.

“We will continue to be in contact with Sead, and wish him success in the rest of the season with Schalke,” he continued.

Kolasinac joined Arsenal for free in the summer of 2017. For 3.5 seasons at the Emirates Stadium, he managed to be part of the squad that won the FA Cup last season. He was loaned to Schalke until the end of this season.
