Arjen Robben injured at FC Groningen in Eredivisie

Arjen Robben will miss his club FC Groningen for a longer time. The 36-year-old former football professional of FC Bayern Munich still has problems with his calf and, according to his club, will no longer play this Friday this year.

“It’s not going the way I want yet,” the team captain is quoted as saying in the message on his team’s website. He has worked hard in the past few months, but without the desired success.

Robben was only used twice after his comeback in the summer and never for the full 90 minutes. He hopes to be back on the pitch with the team in the new year. “But I can’t say yet whether that will work.” After ten match days, FC Groningen is eighth in the Eredivisie with 17 points.

Champions League participant Ajax Amsterdam is currently the leader of the table with 27 points, followed by the surprise team Vitesse Arnheim (25) and PSV Eindhoven (23), where the former German international and world champion from 2014, Mario Götze, has moved this season. This Sunday (2.30 p.m.) Groningen meets AZ Alkmaar, Eindhoven has to play at SC Heerenveen (4.45 p.m.).
