Accident victim Dzanardi is already moving his head, able to see and hear – Motor sports – Car

It has already been reported that the 54-year-old Dzanardi has been in medical care since June 19, when he crashed in Tuscany during a relay when his bike collided with an oncoming truck.

He underwent several surgeries in Siena and then in Milan to stabilize the situation and perform a facial reconstruction.

“He can see it. He can already hear it, but he can’t speak,” the Corriere della Sera newspaper reports.

The newspaper also reports that Dzanardi is already able to fold his fingers and, if necessary, show the “Ok” symbol with his thumb. The Paralympic Champion is also able to perform small movements with the facial muscles.

In November, he was transferred from a hospital in Milan to Padua for further rehabilitation, as doctors indicated that Dzanardi’s physical and neurological condition was stable.

Dzanardi has gained fame in sports with his perseverance and selflessness. On September 15, 2001, in a CART series race in Germany in a Dzanardi car, which went out of the boxes, Alex’s Tajani car was hit at a speed of about 320 kilometers per hour.

The Taljans did not cause serious injuries in the accident, but Dzanardi’s life was endangered for several days. The doctors managed to save his life, but Dzanardi lost both legs. He became a two-time CART champion during his career.

Already the year after the accident, he was back on the track and in 2007 turned to parasports. In the last two Paralympic Games, the Italian has won four gold and two silver medals in a wheelchair, and also aimed at the Tokyo Paralympic Games. He is also a twelve-time world champion.

Between 1991 and 1999, Dzanardi competed in 41 F-1 World Championships, representing the Jordan, Minardi, Lotus and Williams teams.
