Vienna is in shock after the terrorist attack on Monday evening. Nicolas Massu, coach of Austria’s tennis star Dominic Thiem, was one of the people who witnessed the attack around Schwedenplatz.

The Chilean coach wrote on social media during the attack: “I’m in the center of Vienna very close to the attack. They keep us waiting in a restaurant until we know when we can leave. Thanks for the news. “
Stuck for 8 hours
Massu later announced that he had arrived safely at the hotel after great fear. Overall, he was stuck for about 8 hours, reported the Chilean and thanked him for the good treatment in the restaurant.

The 41-year-old Massu used to be a tennis professional himself and at times number 9 in the world rankings. The Chilean has been Thiem’s trainer since April 2019, who won the US Open under Massu this year.
