Tottenham dealt Ludogorets a triple injury blow as Sissoko praised Ndombele

Here’s your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Thursday 5th November

Sissoko reveals what he told Tanguy Ndombele and what has changed about him in the dressing room

Moussa Sissoko has announced that he is satisfied with Tanguy Ndombele’s contributions this season.

The former Lyon midfielder joined Spurs in the summer of 2019 and was initially valued at £ 55m. However, he struggled to adapt to life in north London.

Sissoko has consistently backed his compatriot to succeed at Spurs, revealing that he told him to stay calm during his early fights.

“I think everyone is very happy with what Tanguy is doing at the moment,” he said during the press conference ahead of the Ludogorets game.

“Of course last season has been a tough season for him and I can say that’s normal because when you are a young player and you change countries you go somewhere where you live alone and you don’t speak the language and the training Session is completely different and even the league you play in.

“Sometimes people need time to adapt. It was the case even when I got to Tottenham. I just told him to keep calm and be patient and just work on training and try to understand everyone here. “

He added, “Maybe this year isn’t going to be a great year for you, but everyone knows you have talent and you’ve shown it in the past and if you came here it was because everyone saw you perform . Of course he had a few problems, but everything went well in the end.

“You can see that he is very happy to be part of the team this year and that he is showing a lot of quality on the pitch.

“All the players are happy to have Tanguy in this form and I think he will even improve during the season but what he is doing and showing is good at the moment.”

Trio ruled out the trip to Bulgaria

Tottenham will try to keep their momentum when they face Ludogorets on Thursday night but Jose Mourinho has to shuffle his backpack.

Spurs had a tough evening in the Europa League last time, losing 1-0 to Belgian team Royal Antwerp.

They won’t be hoping for any slip in Bulgaria, but Mourinho will already do without Sergio Reguilon. The Spanish full-back was in good shape against Brighton & Hove Albion but will miss this trip due to illness.

“Reguilon is sick, but not the Covid situation at all, just the flu. We don’t want to be with the team, he could, but we don’t want him because we have two great players and professionals in this position.

“Ben Davies is Ben Davies, so no problem with that.”

Mourinho will do without Serge Aurier and Erik Lamela. The Spurs boss didn’t go into detail about what led the defender to join Reguilon on the sideline, describing Lamela as a “minor problem”.

“Lamela had a bit of a problem for a couple of weeks and after the last game we decided it was time to stop and have this week and the two weeks of the international game so he could fully recover.” he said.

It wasn’t all bad news, however, as Japhet Tanganga was close to returning to first-team action. The defender has only made one appearance this season but Mourinho confirmed he is on the verge of a full recovery.

“In treatment of a pretty important injury,” Mourinho said last week. “Very unhappy boy, he had a problem before the lockdown, then hard work to get back and then this injury. But he’s coming [back]. ”
