Third division – like small children – sport in the region

Minutes after the game, the Unterhaching coaching team stood on the pitch of the Düsseldorf football stadium and tried to analyze their team’s unsuccessful performance against KFC Uerdingen, especially in the second round. It was 1: 3 (0: 0) at the end of the third division game, it was the fourth defeat in a row for SpVgg, which is why you could even slip to a relegation place this Monday if Lübeck should score points in Verl.

In view of the negative spiral in which the Red-Blue are in, diplomacy was over after the game. The new trainer Arie van Lent was brought in because club president Manfred Schwabl trusts him to hit the table more often when comfort is spreading in the Unterhaching oasis of well-being. And so the Dutchman agreed after the game Magenta Sport the following remarkable sentence: “I hope everyone looks in the mirror tonight and asks themselves: Was it me who played such shit or was it my neighbor. And when they found out that it was them themselves, things are definitely looking up. “

Most recently, Haching had to watch for two game days after the games in Halle (due to a false positive corona test in their own team) and against Verl (due to positive cases with the opponent) had to be canceled. Anyone who had hoped that the seemingly chronic storm weakness of the suburbs would have vanished into thin air during the game-free time, was mistaken: Although they managed to tear the game at least visually against Uerdingen, this sporadic superiority was thwarted by it, that there were hardly any scoring chances.

The game rippled on before the break, more than one shot by Niclas Anspach clearly next to the goal (34th) and a huge free kick by Moritz Heinrich, which KFC goalkeeper Hidde Jurjus steered over the bar (45th), jumped not out for Unterhaching. “We often had the ball, but unfortunately there was the old drawback that we were very harmless in the last third,” said ex-striker Arie van Lent. The passive hosts were particularly dangerous through center forward Muhammed Kiprit, at his best opportunity he circled the ball from eight meters right past the goal (36th).

For only a few minutes after the break, it looked like Haching would continue to dominate the game. Uerdingen’s trainer Stefan Krämer attested his team a “sleepy” start in the second round. “It is lucky that we scored the goal at the right time,” said the coach to make it 1-0 through Heinz Mörschel, who was able to finish free after excellent preparatory work by Hans Anapak (53). The Hachinger now collapsed. “That was very wild, we behaved like small children, like youth players”, analyzed van Lent relentlessly. First goalkeeper Nico Mantl, the best Hachinger on Saturday, prevented the 2-0 with two strong saves against Kiprit (64th, 69th), then he too was powerless when Kolja Pusch hit a corner kick and Mörschel headed again increased via inner post for the KFC (76th).

Although the guests came again after a cross from Markus Schwabl and a header from substitute Patrick Hasenhüttl (80th), it was no longer a chase to catch up, instead the former sixties Adriano Grimaldi decided the game after Christoph Greger lost the ball and a quick counterattack via Fridolin Wagner finally for Uerdingen (90th).

Helpless Hachingers shaped the picture after the game, even the spontaneous crisis talk van Lent with his assistant Roman Tyce, Robert Lechtleiter and goalkeeping coach Sebastian Wolf did not look like an innovation workshop in an optimistic start-up company. After only eight games, the first crisis is there, because the jamming is also accompanied by defensive weaknesses. Or as captain Markus Schwabl put it: “Because we messed up both in front and behind, we lose here. You can’t win if you eat one in the back every time and don’t hit one in the front.”
