Peñarol recovered from the fall against Obras and left no doubts to beat Argentino de Junín 92-71. With a record of two wins and one loss, Romano’s team will face Hispano Americano de Río Gallegos tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. for the fourth day.

The Mar del Plata team played a very good first quarter, which is why they clearly won it 26-13. In defense, the zone complicated Argentina and ahead there was a good passing and efficiency game (6/10 in doubles, 3/5 in triples and 7 assists overall). Monacchi, on his 23rd birthday, with 10 units stood out in scoring, but Acuña accompanied him with 8.

At the start of the second quarter, if Argentino wanted to react, Peñarol did not leave him and stamped him 9-0 to escape 35-13 in four minutes. Then he took 23 (39-16) when six had passed. Two triples from the rival brought him closer, but Monacchi came to the rescue to become the team’s scorer and calm him down. The buzzer sounded with the Mar del Plata cast at the front 51-30.

Argentino’s reaction came in the third segment, although on the scoreboard, Peñarol stayed away when the buzzer sounded (68-56). The Juninense cast won the partial 26-17. In addition, on offense, he had 7 losses that conspired against the good performance he had shown in the two previous periods. In defense, “Milrayitas” could not prevail in defense and received many points.

A 4-1 by Argentino at the start of the final quarter put him at nine (69-60), but Peñarol did not lose his cool and with an 8-2 he answered to keep calm. The scoring was distributed, without depending so much on the previous scorers. Mariani, Jamerson and Valinotti appeared. There the final break took place, the “Milrayitas” felt dominant and returned to perform as in the first half, escaping to firmly close the game and win 92-71.
