The Heat breaks the piggy bank, end of the Giannis soap opera?

While the Heat dreams of attracting Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021, the Florida franchise has just broken the bank for one of its players. This decision could well be synonymous with the end in the soap opera of Greek Freak.

After a very good season on the side of the Eastern Conference, the Heat warned the other teams: we will have to rely on the Florida franchise in the future. Pat Riley has a specific plan in mind, and that includes recruiting Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021. But that is still far from being won.

To hope for such a scenario, the Greek Freak must first refuse his contract extension, which he can sign until December 21. Then, we must bet on a failure of the Bucks, and thus a departure of Giannis to a new destination.

Except that to welcome a player of this caliber, you still have to have the finances to. And precisely on this subject, it is no longer really the case of Miami which has just made a big expense: it concerning Bam Adebayo, who has just signed an extension to the maximum according to Shams Charania.

The Heat plan to extend All-Star Bam Adebayo for a contract extension to the tune of $ 163 million.

Clearly, Adebayo has just extended his rookie contract to the max, like Donovan Mitchell or Jayson Tatum before him. If he deserves this jackpot, the latter theoretically prevents the Heat from having the finances to pursue Giannis in 2021. We can therefore see it as a turning point in this soap opera, and perhaps an indicator that the Greek will stay in Milwaukee again one moment.

Endgame for the Heat in the Giannis file, at least that’s what we can understand with this extension. Miami must focus on the most important thing: retaining its best players.
