The coaches are Democrats, praises Puskarčíková. She overcame borreliosis and divorce

In a few days he will enter his eighth season among the biathlon elite. The years are unobtrusive and Eva Puskarčíková is suddenly the most experienced member of the national team.

The 29-year-old biathlete is careful before the start of the World Cup. She lost a month of training in the summer due to borreliosis.

“Unfortunately, it was at the time when the most work was done. I missed a few key trainings,” the biathlete realizes. She knows that she didn’t shine much in control races.

“Even when I came back, I felt like I didn’t have the kind of pair I wanted to have. But it’s time to do something about it. The season is long and if the start fails, I believe it will improve,” hopes the contestant, who will no longer worry commentators in the new season.

After only a year and a half of marriage, she quietly divorced her biathlon colleague Lukáš Kristejn, so her name will again consist of only two parts.

“Yes, it’s true. No news for the people I like. But I’m flattered when the boulevard in my almost thirties, based on photos on Instagram, identified me as a probable partner of ten younger Ondra Mánek,” Puskarčíková confirmed on her Instagram account.

Puskarčíková does not intend to comment on personal matters otherwise and focuses on a successful start to the season.

He is one of the representatives who decided not to return home to Bohemia before the start in Kontiolahti. In total, he will spend almost seven weeks away from home.

“I’m pretty fine with that. We had a choice and I immediately said I wanted to go straight to Kontiolahti. I don’t want to go down and then go back upstairs right away. It’s a complication, partly because of traveling and then I would have to go again too for tests, “explains Puskarčíková in an interview for the Czech biathlon website.

Cabin fever? According to a native of Harrachov, there is no danger. “I don’t feel anything like that. Even if everyone’s here all the time, I’m fine with that,” the biathlete laughs.

The women’s team completed its third training under Norwegian coach Egil Gjelland. And the representatives cannot praise the cooperation with him, as well as with his assistant Jiří Holubec.

“I think we communicate and understand each other well. Egil already knows us much better. There is a lot to know about this every year,” says Puskarčíková. He especially appreciates the complete absence of an authoritative approach.

“They are Democrats. They take it that we are adults and you can have fun with us. It’s all about communication and I hope we are satisfied on both sides,” says the competitor, whose maximum in the World Cup is 13th place overall from 2017. Last season she was in 35th place overall.

Its shooting statistics have been steadily deteriorating over the last five years.

“I’m trying to change that. To be honest, I’ve been pretty much struggling with it now. After a shoulder injury, I couldn’t even position myself at all. suffering. But he looks to the future with optimism.

“For the last two months, it suits me better in training and the shooting is good, although the control races in Idra do not fully indicate that. I have to transfer performances from training to the race,” he appeals to himself.

He believes that if he stays healthy, the results will come.
