The ATP Finals starts: time and TV of the first duels of this Sunday

The Austrian Dominic Thiem, champion of the US Open, and the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, defender of the title, will play tomorrow the match that will start the ATP Finals, a tournament that will bring together the eight best tennis players of the year in London and will have the participation of Diego Schwartzman.

The event that will take place at the closed O2 stadium in London for the last time, since from 2021 to 2025 it will move to Turin, will begin this Sunday at 11 (Argentina time) with the match between Thiem, third in the world rankings , and Tsitsipas, sixth, and then the Spanish “Rafa” Nadal (2) and the Russian Andrey Rublev (8) will be measured in the same area, in matches that will be televised by the ESPN signal.

In the other area, called Tokyo 1970 in allusion to the year in which the Masters began to be played, will be the “Peque” Schwartzman (9), the Serbian Djokovic (1), the Russian Daniil Medvedev (4) and the German Alexander Zverev ( 7).

Schwartzman, who will make his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals and is also a ‘top ten’ for the first time, will play on Monday no earlier than 11 o’clock no less than Djokovic, five-time Masters champion and top favorite to stay with the current edition, for his best adaptation to the fast and indoor surface that will host the tournament, being that Nadal was never able to conquer it during his brilliant career, which includes 13 titles at Roland Garros.

The two best of each group will meet in the semifinals and the final of the contest, with prizes of 5,700.00 euros, is scheduled for Sunday, November 22.

Schwartzman, who is coached by Juan Ignacio Chela, began the year with access to the final in Córdoba (he lost to Chilean Cristian Garín) and to the semifinals of the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires, then the break in the circuit came as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and returned to racing in August to achieve the best results of his career.

The tennis player who emerged in the Hacoaj Nautical Club will not be the only Argentine in London, since the Mar del Plata player Horacio Zeballos will compete in doubles with his Catalan partner Marcel Granollers.

Zeballos, third in the world in doubles, and Granollers (11), won this year the Argentina Open, the ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro and the Masters 1000 in Rome.
The Mar del Plata Zeballos, third in the world in doubles, and the Catalan Granollers (11) will debut on Monday from 9 o’clock against the Australian John Peers and the New Zealander Michael Venus.
