Tennis professional Sinner youngest tournament winner since 2008

Sofia (AP) – The Italian tennis professional Jannik Sinner has won his first title on the ATP Tour and is the youngest player to celebrate a tournament victory in more than twelve years.

The 19-year-old South Tyrolean won the final against Canadian Vasek Pospisil 6: 4, 3: 6, 7: 6 (7: 3) in Sofia. Sinner is ranked 44th in the world. At the French Open, he last caused a stir with his round of 16 victory against Hamburg’s Alexander Zverev. Most recently, in February 2008, a tournament winner on the ATP tour was younger than Sinner: The Japanese Kei Nishikori won the title at Delray Beach at the age of 18.
