In this Thursday’s NFL news: QB Matthew Stafford is in doubt for Week 9; RB Christian McCaffrey could play again Sunday and more.
Stafford is placed on the COVID-19 reserve
The Detroit Lions had to place QB Matthew Stafford on the COVID-19 reserve list because the player is considered to be a “high-risk close contact” of a non-team person. The last interaction with this was last Monday, which makes him eligible to get off this list next Sunday to face the Vikings. The QB also has to present negative evidence for this.

McCaffrey could play in week 9
Good news for the Carolina Panthers. After losing RB Christian McCaffrey from week 2 to an ankle injury, the running back returned to training this Wednesday and has a high probability of playing again in week 9 against the Chiefs. McCaffrey had full participation in that training, so that’s a good thing for his availability next Sunday.

Trubisky suffered a shoulder injury
Funny topic for QB Mitch Trubisky on the NFL news. The player suffered a shoulder injury last Sunday against the Saints in the only snap in which he participated in that game. The 2017 NFL Draft first-round pick came in to run a read option and was tackled by LB Alex Anzalone, which caused him to have this damage. It will have evaluations, but as a precaution the Bears trained two quarterbacks as potential new substitutes.
