The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that tight end Vance McDonald was diagnosed positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

The Pennsylvania team placed their name on the list of players unavailable due to the virus.

“The player was immediately placed in segregation and the organization continues to follow NFL protocols,” the Steelers said on their Twitter account.

The club have also indicated that they are in contact with officials of the Goodell circuit to follow up on the contacts that their infected footballer has had in the past few days.

“The health and safety of our players, coaches and staff is our top priority,” added the Steelers.

Pittsburgh, which has not suffered the defeat in eight outings this season, will play its next meeting against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
