Van de Beek on United’s playing time

Donny van de Beek has revealed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has instructed him to be patient until he gets his chances for Manchester United.

The 23-year-old has yet to start one Premier League game for United after his move from Ajax in the summer but has impressed in fits and starts for the Old Trafford Club.

Under pressure from United fans on Solskjaer to involve Van de Beek more often, the playmaker scored his second goal in back-to-back games for the Netherlands and scored a smart result in a 1-1 draw with Spain on Wednesday night.

Van de Beek told the Dutch media company WE after that he was happy to be patient, but also to be hungry for more minutes on the United team:

“It sounds clichéd to me to say that because I would of course have liked to have played more, but I really enjoy being in a nice team. I’m just very well received and supported by everyone.

“I’m a patient person but of course you go there to play as much as you can. I also think – in the minutes I made, in the times I got in – I showed that I can add something to the team.

“What does he do [Solskjaer] Say to me that I have to be patient, but also that I just have to keep doing what I am doing.

“And that he saw that I made a good impression when I came into the field. My time is definitely coming. And when these opportunities arise, I have to be there. “
