New York Giants vs. Washington Football Team prediction, preview and odds

Two NFC East teams will compete against each other on Sunday afternoon while the New York Giants travel to FedExField to take on the Washington Football team. The Giants enter this game with a 1-7 record after losing two points in their last game against Tampa Bay at home, while the soccer team set a 2-5 record after having the Cowboys in theirs last game at home by 22 points. This is the second meeting between these two teams this season. New York wins the first meeting on October 18th by one point.

Giants lose a heartbreaker on Monday night

The New York Giants looked like one of the worst football teams in the league for the first half of the regular season. The Giants have lost seven of their first eight games, with each of their last two defeats adding up three points. Last week New York lost two points at home to Tampa Bay on Monday night. In that game, New York’s offensive fought with just nine points in the second half. Quarterback Daniel Jones led his team for a long time Touchdown drive Late in the fourth quarter to bring the deficit down to just two points before the two-point switch attempt failed. Now New York will try to get back on track next with a street game.

One player who won’t see any action on Sunday is veteran recipient Golden Tate, who is out of action on disciplinary grounds.

New York’s offensive has been one of the worst in the entire league this season as it ranks 31st with 18.1 points per game and 31st with 291.8 yards per game. To make matters worse, the Giants occupy 30th place in the league with only 18.9 first downs per game, so they couldn’t endure long drives all season.

After last week’s defeat, New York coach Joe Judge commented on how he believed the referees missed the call for the game-winning two-point changeover attempt.

“We had pretty good vision. I know you can’t use the jumbotron to repeat. We also had a pretty clear view of it. But I thought (Judge Nathan Jones) made the right call the first time.”

Washington wants to use its bye week

The Washington Football team have looked like a subpar roster in their first seven games as they have already lost five. On the plus side, Washington still holds second place in the NFC East and is still very much looking for a division title. Now the soccer team will try to get closer to first place with a solid home performance on Sunday.

Fortunately, Washington enters this game after a week of bye, so it has had a little more time to prepare for this matchup. WFT has split each of its first four home games this season while not winning on the road, so it should put in a solid performance in those 60 minutes.

In their last game before parting, Washington played their best game of the season when they smoked Dallas 25-3. They dominated the cowboys statistically, 397-142. QB Kyle Allen completed 15 of 25 for two TDs and 194 yards. Allen wasn’t great, but it cemented the position for Dwayne Haskins, who was downgraded to third string. Allen, who previously played for head coach Ron Rivera in Washington, does 68.8% of his passes for 548 yards and four TDs with one selection in three games.

Washington’s offensive so far this season has been very overwhelming as it ranks 30th with 19.0 points per game and 30th with 292.7 yards per game. To make matters worse, the soccer team ranks 29th in the league with only 192.6 yards per game, so they couldn’t move the ball evenly through the air. Fortunately, they have a distinguished defense that ranks fourth in yards per game in the NFL at 309.1 and first in yards allowed (185.9ypg).

In the run-up to this game, Washington coach Ron Rivera explained how important it was for players to engage with the dynamics of a team.

“The whole attitude and idea is that for the success of the individual, the responsibility of the team and the success of the team is the responsibility of the individual.”
