Mesut Oezil Remains Professional Inside and Outside the Field

London

German football star Mesut Oezil is alienated at Arsenal. Even so, Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno praised Oezil’s way of dealing with his situation.

Playmaker The 33-year-old is the highest paid player at the club, earning 350 thousand pounds per week (Rp 6.55 billion). However, Oezil has not played since March and is unlikely to play again.

The reason is, Arsenal did not register Oezil in the squad to compete in the Premier League and Europa League. The opportunity to play Oezil is clearly very slim.

Mesut Oezil later criticized Arsenal on social media by accusing his club of not appreciating his loyalty. Even though he was ‘thrown away’, Oezil still followed the training as usual.

“Mesut is still part of the team and training with us,” Leno told Image, which is quoted Metro. “He’s completely professional both on and off the pitch and in the dressing room.”

“It is clear this is a disappointing situation for him, but Mesut is handling it well and is completely loyal.”

Oezil enters his eighth season with the Gunners shirt with 77 assists and 44 goals. The 2014 World Cup winner helped Arsenal win four titles including three FA Cups.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insisted that his treatment of Oezil was fair. Although there is no explanation behind the freezing of the former Real Madrid player.

All I can say is that I tried my best, I gave him the chance to play as best I could. From my point of view, I am always patient, giving him the opportunity to play and be fair, “Arteta said a few weeks ago.

“He is a player of this club, he is the star of this team in recent seasons. I have to respect, but I have to make decisions here, which is best for the team and the club.”
