Max Verstappen: ‘It seems like I’m driving on ice’ | Motorsport

“It looks like I’m driving on ice,” said Max Verstappen over the on-board radio. Lando Norris, the English McLaren driver who celebrated his 21st birthday on Friday, went even further. “This is worse than ice,” said Norris, driving his car back into the pits after one lap. In many places the asphalt was wet and slippery when the training started at 11 am Turkish time (9 am in the Netherlands).

Leclerc drove over a pole during his warm-up lap when he briefly lost control of his Ferrari on the slippery track. It was reason for the race management to fly the red flag as a sign that the session was being stopped. All drivers had to go back into the pits. It gave track workers time to repair the damage from the knocked-over bollard. Then training was resumed.
