Manchester United fans have criticized the club’s inability to sign Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window after the pair came together for England’s second goal against the Republic of Ireland.
The three lions took the lead through United skipper Harry Maguire, who conquered his country for the first time and went home.
The Aston Villa captain picked up the Borussia Dortmund star 30 minutes from time and Sancho shot in before running a low shot past Darren Randolph to double England’s lead.
United became interested in both English stars during the summer transfer window but decided against moving to Grealish, who eventually landed a new long-term contract with Villa Park. The Reds prioritized the signing of Sancho but failed to reach an agreement with Dortmund and the 20-year-old stayed in Germany to the horror of United fans.
