Mad rumor! FC Bayern gets Cristiano Ronaldo for free

The fact that the bustling soccer business has so many surprises in store should no longer surprise anyone. If the rumor, which is now haunted by the media, has even the slightest bit of truth, it would amount to an insane sensation: Allegedly, FC Bayern is negotiating with Juventus Turin about a winter change from Cristiano Ronaldo to Säbener Straße. The special highlight: The five-time world footballer would be a real bargain.

The Spanish portal “Don Balon” has the story in the mostly sensational quiver. According to this, CR7 could join FC Bayern in winter, while Javi Martínez could leave Munich for Turin in return. A transfer fee would not flow.

Of course, Ronaldo already has 35 Lenze and FC Bayern would have to pay the Portuguese a full salary, but the deal still seems tempting. After all, Martínez’s contract ends in the summer anyway, and an extension with the 32-year-old is not planned.

There is no question that Ronaldo still embodies unrestricted world class even at an advanced age as a footballer. In 2020/21, the offensive player is already back with nine goals in seven competitive games. For Juve, he has scored 60 times in 69 league games since moving from Real Madrid to the Old Lady in summer 2018.

A setback for the upheaval at Bayern

The line of argument put forward by Don Balon, however, is questionable. Due to Ronaldo’s age, no club is willing to pay a large sum anymore, the report said. Juventus is also forced to save the old star’s enormous salary. Allegedly, the national player earns 31 million euros net per season.

An insane sum that could also be saved in Turin if they would ask for a transfer fee for Ronaldo. Whose contract ends in June 2022, interested parties should – contrary to what the portal suspects – stand in line and leaf a few million more on the table.

It is also questionable whether FC Bayern is even interested in the tempting deal. After all, a world star like Ronaldo would turn the established team hierarchy upside down overnight and certainly demand a regular place. The transfer would not fit with the consistently driven upheaval at Bayern.

“If the deal takes place, it will go down in history,” “Don Balon” rightly concludes. But the rumor shouldn’t be more than a story.
