Linz: Tan gave everything

After qualifying, Harmony Tan lost to Czech Krejcikova (6-3, 5-7, 6-2) on Tuesday in the first round of the Linz tournament.

Harmony Tan’s return to the main draw of a WTA tournament did not have the desired effect for the 23-year-old French player. A month and a half after being corrected when she entered Roland Garros, where she had been invited by the FFT, by the Russian Daria Kasatkina (6-2, 6-1), Tan once again tripped over the carpet in the first round, this Tuesday in Linz (Austria). Despite the defeat, in three sets (6-3, 5-7, 6-2, 2:08 of play), the 240th in the world can however be proud of its performance. Opposed to Czech Barbora Krejcikova, 74th in the WTA rankings, our 23-year-old representative who went through qualifying (victories against Russian Rakhimova then against Romanian Cristian) thus pushed her opponent to a third set.

Dodin will defend French chances alone

Admittedly, the Parisienne did not really exist in this last round, removed in 40 minutes on the score of 6-2 by Krejcikova. However, Tan need not be ashamed, even though she leaves Océane Dodin, another Habs competing in Linz and who, like her compatriot in qualifying (after her success against the Hungarian Jani and the Romanian Paar), defend the French chances on her own. The recent finalist of the Reims tournament (defeat against Samsonova) will start her tournament on Wednesday against the Swiss Teichmann, seeded number 7.
