Former Northerner Leona Michalski won silver with her partner Thuc Phuong Nguyen (Hamburg-Horner TV) at the U19 European Badminton Championships in Lahti, Finland.
The 18-year-old Michalski (TV Refrath) and Nguyen (17) only had to admit defeat to the top-ranked Russian Anastasiia Boiarun / Alena Iakovleva in the final (12:21, 19:21). The national team athletes of the DBV had reached the final as an unset duo. “It is extremely gratifying that the women’s doubles were in the final.
