Football: without Briançon or Meling, Nîmes on its knees to travel to Reims

The Crocos, who remain on four defeats in the league, play in Reims on Sunday November 22, at 3 p.m., on behalf of the 11th day of Ligue 1.

“After a big slap, we always get up,” Nîmes coach Jérôme Arpinon promised after the collective sinking against Angers (5-1 defeat) two weeks ago at Costières. The time has come. In Reims, the Crocs, who took advantage of the international break to question themselves and take refuge in work, must end a series of four consecutive defeats.

Update on Anthony Briançon’s injury

The trouble is that it will be without Anthony Briançon or Birger Meling, two indisputable holders of the Gard defense. If the second is on the way home after distension of the internal lateral ligament, the first is wondering. He has been feeling pain in the cartilage of his right knee for some time.

The MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) passed Thursday did not reassure him. He will do a CT arthrography on Tuesday, which will tell more about his injury … and the need, or not, of surgery.

The Nîmes group: Reynet, Dias (g.), Burner, Paquiez, Alakouch, Landre, Martinez, Miguel, Cubas, Fomba, Ahlinvi, Duljevic, Benrahou, Eliasson, Ripart, Ferhat, Aribi, Denkey, Roux, Koné.

Absent: Briançon, Meling, Depres (knee), Deaux (suspended), Valerio (rehabilitation in Capbreton), Buades, Guessoum, Ben Amar (choice).
