Bastianini wins the Moto2 World Championship

Moto2 was the last of the titles to close the positions in dispute in the 2020 World Championship. And as in MotoGP and Moto3, its winner could not close the success from the podium either. Joan Mir finished seventh to close the queen class, Albert Arenas crossed the finish line twelfth and Enea Bastianini did it in fifth position, with the stress of doubts that something unforeseen could happen, but with the relative tranquility of having his rivals controlled, even if they all finished ahead.

The Italian needed to be fourth and in the end he was fifth, although knowing that his greatest threat, Sam Lowes, was suffering with his injured hand, which limited his competitiveness on a track where he had been very fast in his time in the World Cup. Supersport, the shuttle to reach the intermediate category. Despite this handicap, the Briton was third, after at times running second behind Luca Marini. Although it was perceived that he was traveling with a physical limit.

Marini, who will be in MotoGP next year, closed the year with a good second place that also allows him to finish as runner-up, just ahead of Lowes. Fourth in the race was the fourth in the World Championship, Marco Bezzecchi, in a test won by Remy Gardner, son of the mythical 500cc champion Wayne, who with a great finish managed to add his first triumph in the championship, which positions him as one of the potential strongmen for 2021. The best Spaniard in Portugal, Jorge Martín, was also the best in a less brilliant year than expected for Spanish motorcycling, which has taken both the MotoGP and Moto3 titles.
