Barcelona Again in Crisis, Neymar Asked to Return Rp. 166 Billion

Barcelona

Barcelona audits the club’s messy finances due to the corona virus pandemic. From there, the strongest fact is that Neymar is in fact “owed” 10 million euros. How come?

Barcelona has indeed become one of the clubs that has been affected financially because of this pandemic. They cannot get income from match tickets because spectators are still not allowed to come to the stadium.

In addition, sales of club merchandise were also hampered because their official store closed too. As a result, players have to experience a salary cut since the last pandemic by 70 percent.

Even during the 2020/2021 season, the players were also cut again by around 20 percent. Well, Barcelona could also be sentenced to bankruptcy in January, if they were not able to cut player salary expenses by 196 million euros.

So, therefore, Barcelona’s interim management is currently focused on auditing club finances. One of the results of the audit was that it was found that Barcelona was paying more when he paid Neymar.

When Neymar played for the club from 2013 to 2017, the Brazilian player’s tax calculations were wrong and the nominal value reached 10 million euros, or around Rp. 166 billion.

The amount is quite large if you look at Barcelona’s current financial condition. Therefore quoted by Football-Espana, Barcelona asked Neymar to return the money.

This news could further exacerbate the feud between Barcelona and Neymar. Because last June, Barcelona won a case in court regarding Neymar’s contract dispute.

Barcelona was asked by Neymar to continue to pay a service fee of 6.7 million euros, or around Rp. 111 billion, but in the end it did not happen. In addition, Neymar also reportedly owes 34 million euros (Rp 565 billion) in taxes to Spain.

The Spanish Ministry of Finance published Neymar’s debt on December 31, 2019, then revealed it again on September 30.
