ATP Finals live ticker with Krawietz / Mies, Nadal and Thiem

The first day of competition begins at the ATP Finals in London. Two singles and two doubles are played daily in the o2 arena.

The start was made by the German doubles Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies, who prevailed against Lukasz Kubot (Poland) and Marcelo Melo (Brazil).

In the individual competition in the group “Tokyo 1970” there is a blast between Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem. The winner of the match can take a giant step towards the semi-finals. In the evening, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev fight for their first success in London.

A tricky situation for Krawietz / Mies! After a powerful smash from Kubot, it is quickly 0:30 from a German point of view. The three seeded duo fought their way back again impressively. An equally huge smash from Mies and a powerful forehand from Krawietz ensure that the French Open champions win the game.

The quota for the first serve goes up to 75 percent in the second sentence with Kubot / Melo. Kubot served highly concentrated and shortly afterwards added a forehand winner to win the game.

Nu zero! Krawietz is still very stable with his own serve and thus repeatedly gives the German doubles free points. Mies honors his partner’s performance with a short “well played”. Everything in sequence in sentence two.

It hurts just watching! Mies hits Melo in the abdomen with a volley on the net. The Cologne native apologizes promptly. Apart from that incident, Kubot / Melo remain stable on their own serve and thus submit again.

The French Open winners pull their heads out of the noose again. Two double mistakes by Mies give the Polish-Brazilian duo a quick 30:15 lead. However, Krawietz is still wide awake on the net, so that only a few moments later it is the game ball for the Germans. Another forehand error by Kubot secures Krawietz / Mies the 2-2 equalizer.

Spectacular point win by Mies: The Cologne player closes the net again and brings the eight placed Kubot / Melo almost to despair. The German duo also starts extremely concentrated and so early in set two.

Kubot / Melo seem to have caught up again. The Brazilian gets through his service game with a little effort.

Kubot wobbles seriously when it comes to its own service! A double mistake by Poland and a cracking backhand winner by Krawietz give the Germans their first break chances. Another double fault from Kubot does the rest. At zero, Krawietz / Mies secure the first break of the game for a 2-1 lead.

Strong answer! Two aces from Krawietz and a great volley from Mies on the net bring the German double the quick equalizer.

Melo still has no rhythm for his serves – it quickly stands at 30: 0 for Krawietz / Mies. Afterwards, the Wimbledon winners from 2017 presented themselves highly concentrated and took the early lead after two forehand errors from Krawietz and a remarkable volley from Kubot.

The German doubles are already under a lot of pressure on their second appearance in London.
