CALGARY – The Canmore Eagles junior ice hockey team has gone into quarantine after 16 members tested positive for COVID-19.
The news comes a day after the Alberta Junior Hockey League – in which the Eagles compete against each other – suspended their season after identifying four cases that were split between four different teams.
The 16 members of the Eagles who tested positive suffer from diseases to varying degrees.
According to team officials, one player showed symptoms on the team bus after a game and was immediately isolated when he got home.
Eagles head coach and general manager Andrew Milne calls it a frightening situation.
“It could have been taken anywhere, and I think it’s an indication of how quickly it can spread and how hard-working people need to be,” he said.
“We did everything we could in our group to mitigate this, but obviously it just happened so quickly. I know our group feels awful for affecting the clubs and the people for a couple of weeks unemployed, and the fear that it will come to that. ” With. Milne added that his wife and one of his sons had also tested positive for the virus.
