A renewed Basketball Selection

The plans of the basketball in Mexico they continue, and even though ADEMEBA does not have a president yet, CONADE has taken command, for now, and confirmed that the Mexican National Team will be ready to participate in the second Qualification window at the FIBA AmeriCup 2022, which will take place from November 25 to December 1.

Through a press release, CONADE detailed the list of summoned for these qualifying matches, where he highlights that the team will be led by Francisco Olmos, coach of Royal Force, and will feature players like Gustavo Ayón, Jorge Gutiérrez, Bryant Urrutia or Juan Toscano, from the NBA’s Golden State Warriors.

“All those summoned are kindly requested to be present and available in Mexico City on Thursday, November 19, in order to start the preparation and participation logistics, in accordance with the program established following FIBA’s participation guidelines, ”the statement read.

However, although this time there is a call that makes fans dream, the reality is that many of these players could refuse to attend this qualifying And as an example is Gustavo Ayón, who a few days ago commented that he is not interested in going with the national team for the moment, since it is a project that has no head or tail.

“It is a situation that has no head or tail, you cannot organize a selection in 15 days, nowhere in the world are you going to be a competitive selection within 15 days of commitment. There is no coach, there is no call, it is not known who will be the leader of basketball in Mexico … honestly I am not interested in such a project, since it has no future for the young boys nor for basketball in the country ”, he commented.

Another player who could decline the invitation to this project could be Juan Toscano, since just the day that this qualifying window ends, the NBA camps for the new season.
