Tiger Woods tournament canceled

Golfer Tiger Woods Foundation confirmed the cancellation of the PGA Tour’s Hero World Challenge tournament on Monday, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The unofficial competition, the proceeds of which are donated to this organization, was scheduled to take place December 3-6 in Albany, Bahamas. Only 18 players were going to participate; in 2019, no canadian was on the greens when the Swede Henrik Stenson took the top honors. Woods finished fourth.

“This decision was made for the health and well-being of everyone involved in this tournament, and with the whole community of Albany in mind,” the organization said in a statement. We expect to receive 18 of the best golfers in the world and several guests next year. ”

Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson and Jordan Spieth are among the winners of the Hero World Challenge. For his part, Woods won it five times when it was held in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
