Justin Thomas returned a 65, (-7) card on the course at Sherwood Country Club, in the suburbs of Los Angeles. With a total of -14, he is one step ahead of Dylan Frittelli (AFS) and Lanto Griffin (USA). Thomas, world No.3, has 13 victories on the PGA Tour, the most recent being at the World Golf Championships in early August. The Zozo Championship was supposed to take place in Japan but was transferred to California due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tiger Woods, winner of the 2019 edition of this tournament in Japan, his 82nd career success, Sam Snead’s record equaled, recovered well on Friday with a card of 66 (-6). Author of a catastrophic 76 (+4) Thursday, placing it second to last, the Tiger had a day much more in its standards.
Woods: “More precise”
Woods made five birdies on the outward journey and three more on the return, for only two bogeys and climbed ten places in the standings: “I hit the ball so much better ” , said the American. “Today was much more precise, much sharper, much cleaner“.
