That’s why the network celebrates Kalle Riedle

The world champions of 1990 met in Tuscany and reminisced about the great triumph. A photo of the meeting caused a stir on the net – but it wasn’t about football.

At class reunions, you tell each other the funniest and embarrassing stories, share wonderful memories, and may be surprised at what has become of your classmates over the years. There was now such a class reunion for the national players from 1990.

Thirty years after winning the world championship title, the former teammates around Lothar Matthäus, Rudi Völler and Jürgen Klinsmann met again. Team boss Franz Beckenbauer and team doctor Müller-Wohlfahrt were also present at the hotel in Tuscany.

As part of a class reunion, there was a joint photo of the former world champions – and that caused a stir on the internet. Because while you look at the former professional athletes over the past few years, Kalle Riedle hardly seems to have aged. A Twitter user asked astonished: “How can you please not age like Kalle Riedle. Crazy.”

Another was happy for the former world champion. “Kalle Riedle seems to have a good life, be very, very granted to him.” The former striker now runs a four-star conference hotel in the Allgäu, among other places.

A Twitter user sees the reason for the apparent fountain of youth in the home of Kalle Riedle. “Are you really surprised that Kalle Riedle ages so well? Those are the Allgäu genes, folks.” Karl-Heinz Riedle was born in the Allgäu hamlet on September 16, 1965.

Some users did not only find the seemingly young at heart Riedle remarkable. One user noticed that there was another fashion trend in terms of facial hair in 1990: “What is striking: in 1990 there was 80% more mustache,” she wrote.

But a Twitter user found something even more remarkable in the photo than the world champions: the turf, which is imperfect by football standards. “Everyone is talking about our Clooney Kalle Riedle but where is the greenkeeper? The lawn looks like”

In addition to Matthäus, Beckenbauer and the then striker Jürgen Klinsmann, Philipp Lahm was another honorary captain of the DFB when many football greats met. Four world champions from 1974 and former GDR national players also came.
