Talk with everyone and differentiated practice

A couple of weeks ago, the Association of Basketball Clubs obtained permission from the Ministry of Health and its partner of Tourism and Sports of the Nation for the return to training of the teams that play in the National League. The one that took advantage of the play made by the AdC was the Argentine Confederation, which almost under the same excuse, asked for the qualification of practices for the different selections. The result obtained by the CABB was the same. With the approval of the corresponding authorities, the details for the return to field practice began to be finalized.

Those who were training for a long time virtual way were the girls from the U-18 Women’s team. It was this group, or rather part of it, the one who benefited from the permission granted by the government of our country. So much so that last Monday, more than a dozen players met again on the floor. It was in the Leon Najnudel Sports Center of the National High Performance Sports Center of Buenos Aires. Those who had the privilege of being part of the face-to-face trainings throughout the week were the girls from the AMBA region. With those of the interior, the works continued with the same modality. That is, online and through the Zoom platform. It is worth remembering that among those who were left out of the new normal are the Catalina Gómez Bull and Gianella Fabregat from Santa Cruz. The two players of the San Miguel club were summoned by coach Gregorio Martínez since the former Obras took over as head of the national cast. Gómez Bull already came from other experiences in previous processes with the albiceleste. For Fabregat, on the other hand, now is his first experience in an Argentine national team. Both are training conscientiously and waiting for the possibility of traveling to Buenos Aires to join the rest of the team in the face-to-face work. Something that is still unclear as to when and how it will happen. Simply because it will depend on the health situation and the permits granted by the national authorities, especially with regard to air or land circulation through our country.

Before starting with the differentiated work of the last week, with part of the group on the field and the other in a virutal way, the 30 summoned by Martínez had a talk. This was online and with what will be part of the medical team of said selected. In the first part, the traumatologist Mariano D’Elía and the kinesiologists Andrés Delias, Victoria Limoni and Fabián Reggireti gave a workshop on the functional bandage and ankle restraint method.

Finally, the Coordinator of the CABB Medical Department, Gabriel Sarfati, talked to the girls about the COVID-19 prevention measures and also about the health protocol for face-to-face practices. “We emphasize the importance of individual responsibility and compliance with the measures that are essential to return safely,” explained Sarfati.

After this talk by Zoom, the group eventually split up. One part began with face-to-face training at CeNARD and the other continued with distance training as before.

Twelve were the winners, namely: Giuliana Baccarelli and Julia Paoletta (Works); Magalí Vilches, Oriana Bangert and Catalina De Giorgi (Centro Galicia); Fiamma Yaciura (Berazategui); Victoria Michel and Delfina Saravia (Unión Florida); Georgina Buzzetti (Lanús); Natalia Tondi and Lucila Sampietro (Vélez) and Federica Del Bosco (ex Campobasso from Italy). These young women were joined by a member of the senior team such as Julieta Alé de Vélez. Luciana Delabarba and Camila Suárez also had to do it, although both justified their absence and would join this next week. For now, the members of the U-18 coaching staff are planning to hold meetings for three weeks. The days set for training are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In the case of the girls who are working for Zoom, they are training four times a week.

The return in words

A week of emotions was the one experienced by the group that was able to leave the isolation behind and meet again on the court to train. Coinciding then in the story, this is what some of the players and even the coach said:

Player

“We are very happy that this possibility of training again has been achieved. It was a beautiful feeling, especially because of the fact that we all met again after so long. At first it was strange to see each other with chinstraps and distanced, but we understand that we are going to have to get used to it until everything can return to normal ”.

Gregorio Martinez

Coach

“Emotionally it was a very strong day. First, because it was the return of official basketball in the country, boosted by these months of pandemic. Second for being precisely the return with a team of mine with all the responsibility that this entails at this moment and, not least, for being my first training directed in the National Team as head coach. All very mobilizing ”.
