Suzuki Let Mir and Rins Compete Fairly

Suzuki is pleased with the appearance of the two riders at this time. They will let Joan Mir and Alex Rins compete healthily for the 2020 MotoGP world title.

MotoGP 2020 is indeed full of surprises when no Marc Marquez is out for a long period due to injury. Competition is getting hotter, including the presence of Joan Mir at the top of the standings at this time.

With three races left to play, Mir is 14 points ahead of second-placed Fabio Quartararo and has a great chance. This is certainly a surprise considering that Suzuki has often lagged behind Honda, Yamaha or Ducati.

Even mathematically, Mir’s teammate, Alex Rins, who is in sixth place in the standings, still has a chance because he is only 32 points away. Conditions like this are clearly rarely experienced by Suzuki.

Therefore, Suzuki must be smart in managing strategies to lead its riders to become world champions. Seeing current conditions, it is only natural that Suzuki would prioritize Mir over Alex Rins.

However, Suzuki didn’t want to make a team order to help Joan Mir. There was Suzuki that let them both compete healthily until the last race in Portugal.

“I hope to have problems like this every season,” said team manager Suzuki Ecstar, Davide Brivio, was quoted as saying GP One.

“When two riders have the opportunity to become world champions, we don’t want to do a team order. The only strategy we have is that our teammates must respect each other on the track, they have to correct each other,” he continued.

“Suzuki really doesn’t like team orders, we said to our riders: Hopefully the best will be champions. Maybe we can talk about team orders when there is only one racer who has the chance to win in the last series ..”

“Maybe it’s too cliché, if you think it’s better to be champions without help and on their own ability. For now, there is no team order,” concluded Brivio about the competition of Joan Mir and Alex Rins.
