Slavia, Sparta and Liberec know their opponents in the basic groups of the European Football League

The Czech clubs Slavia, Sparta and Liberec can look forward to attractive and at the same time playable opponents in the basic groups of the European Football League.

The football players of the championship Slavia will compete with Leverkusen, where the forward Patrik Schick, the conqueror of Pilsen from the final 4th preliminary round by the Israeli Beer Sheva and Nice, will work.

Liberec will also encounter a team with a Czech national team member, who will compete with Hoffenheim, whose jersey is worn by defender Pavel Kadeřábek. The other rivals of the Slavs will be Ghent and Crvena from the Belgrade, where the recently controversial Spartan Guélor Kanga will play.

Sparta will face duel with AC Milan in an attractive group, starring star gunner Zlatan Ibramovic, Celtic Glasgow and Lille. Today’s ticket in Nyon, Switzerland, decided that.

The groups will start on Thursday, October 22, and the last sixth round will take place on December 10. The first two teams will always advance to the elimination phase. The bonus for participation in the European League group is 2.92 million euros (78.5 million crowns).

Slavia and Sparta were in the second basket by lot, Liberec in the worst, fourth. For Schick, who moved to Leverkusen in September, the fights with the red and whites will be all the more prestigious because he is a Sparta offspring.

The Slavists believe that they will do better against another opponent in Group C, Beer Ševa, than Pilsen, which surprisingly lost 0: 1 in Israel on Thursday and dropped out. From the last basket, the red and white Nice got to the delight the goalkeeper Ondřej Kolář, who was interested in the French club in the past. She already played with Nice in 1997 and after two draws, 2: 2 away and 1: 1 at home, she advanced.

In addition to Schick, another representative compatriot, Kadeřábek, awaits his return to Bohemia. The 28-year-old bek wanted to play against the former Sparta club before the lottery, but in the end he and Hoffenheim will face him in group L Liberec.

In the match against Slovan, two other players who have worked in the domestic league in the past can also return to the Czech Republic. After leaving Letná in July, another former Spartan Guélor Kanga will wear the jersey of the Red Star Belgrade, and former Belgian Michael Ngadeu will play for Ghent in Belgium. Liberec has already faced CZ Belgrade and defeated it twice in the UEFA Cup in 2006.

A very attractive group H is waiting for Sparta. Clearly the biggest star of AC Milan is the Swedish gunner Ibrahimovic, who will celebrate his 39th birthday on Saturday. The team is led by coach Stefano Pioli, whom the Letna team has encountered in the past during fights with Lazio Rome and Inter Milan. Sparta has played six matches with AC Milan in the past and has not beaten it yet.

Praguers can also look forward to duels with the sovereign of the last years of the Scottish League, Celtic Glasgow, and just like the Slavists will go to France. Lille awaits them, with whom the rival from Eden lost twice in 2009.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the entire qualification was played for only one match instead of the traditional two and without spectators. However, UEFA has allowed 30 percent of its stadiums to fill its competitions from next week, if local authorities allow it.

Slavia joined the European League group after losing in retaliation on the 4th qualifying round of the Champions League on Wednesday at Danish Midtjylland 1: 4 and not entering the main stage of the more prestigious competition. In the 2018/19 season, the red and whites in the European League reached the quarterfinals.

Sparta qualified directly as the winner of the Czech Cup and the group will play in the cups for the first time since 2016. So did Liberec, which managed three preliminary rounds in this year’s qualification. In the final, he defeated APOEL Nicosia at home 1: 0.

On the contrary, Pilsen lost to Beer Ševa and finished in the cups. For the first time in history, Czech football did not take the chance to have four teams in groups, three representatives are leveling the maximum. Last year, only Slavia played in the group, which advanced to the main stage of the Champions League.

UEFA also announced the best player of last season’s European League in the draw. The winner was striker Romelu Lukaku from the Inter Milan finalist team.
